Successful Completion of Australia’s First Double Circuit 500kV Cut-In at Cressy Terminal Station

Consolidated Power Projects (CPP) is proud to announce the successful completion of the 500kV cut-in works at the Cressy Terminal Station. This milestone achievement marks a significant advancement in Australia’s power infrastructure, with the project being recognized as the country’s first double circuit 500kV cut-in. AusNet has commended the CPP team for their exemplary professionalism and efficiency throughout the planning and execution phases of this complex endeavour. The successful completion of this project underscores CPP’s commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative solutions in the power sector.

“Congratulations to everyone involved in successfully completing this significant, complicated, and complex cut-in.” said Mr. Wallie van Hoving, President at CPP. “Doubly so, given the context as a first double circuit 500kV cut-in in Australia!”
The scope of work began with civil preparations before Christmas, followed by the construction of seven 65-meter towers starting in January. Over the course of 23 weeks, the team managed the assembly, erection, and stringing operations, culminating in the successful commissioning of the double circuit 500kV infrastructure.

“I’m very impressed with the level of planning and professional execution demonstrated by the CPP team,” remarked Steve Ford, Chief Operating Officer at CPP. “It is always difficult to work under outage pressure, let alone a 500kV cut in with no back up. The Lines team and all involved should be very proud. Well done!”

Special recognition goes to Wade Pihama-Bishop for his pivotal role in coordinating efforts across the project. His leadership was instrumental in ensuring seamless collaboration and achieving project milestones on schedule.

CPP extends its gratitude to all team members and partners who contributed to this landmark achievement. The successful completion of the Cressy Terminal Station’s 500kV cut-in not only enhances Australia’s power infrastructure but also reinforces CPP’s position as a leader in delivering complex and innovative solutions.
