Grad Careers at CPP: Meet Leo, Graduate Accountant
Starting a graduate career is a chance to put your studies into practice, but it’s also an opportunity to understand how a business works, learn from experienced people and build connections across your industry.
For Leo Forman, a Graduate Accountant based in CPP’s Brisbane office, that learning has been an important part of his experience at CPP so far.
Seeing the bigger picture
One of Leo’s biggest takeaways from joining CPP has been discovering the scale of the organisation and the many different teams involved in supporting the business.
“The most surprising thing I’ve learnt during my time at CPP has been the absolute scale and scope of the business. It’s a huge machine with lots of different moving parts.”
For someone beginning their career in accounting, being part of a broader national business has also created opportunities to see how different functions work together.
Learning beyond your role
CPP’s graduate experience gives graduates opportunities to learn beyond their immediate roles and connect with people from across the business.
Earlier in his graduate journey, Leo joined his cohort in Adelaide for Grad Week, spending time learning more about CPP, meeting leaders and colleagues, and connecting with other graduates.
For Leo, the experience reinforced the value of learning alongside others.
“I felt as though I learned so much more than I was expecting. My cohort of graduates were an absolute joy to be around and learn with; I enjoyed most the collaboration and togetherness I felt throughout the whole group.”
Finding a supportive culture
It’s the people and collaborative culture that have particularly stood out to Leo during his time at CPP.
“CPP culture is open. It encourages communication and teamwork throughout all business units and really puts an emphasis on the value of people.”
As he continues developing his career in Brisbane, Leo is looking forward to building his knowledge, contributing to the business and learning from the people around him.
“I am looking forward to contributing to the challenges the industry brings and learning how to solve those problems from the great mentors and leadership of CPP.”
And for students thinking about where to begin their own careers, Leo’s advice is simple:
“Be open to learning and never stop learning. Talk to everyone you can and build lasting relationships.”
Build your career at CPP
CPP’s Graduate Program gives graduates the opportunity to gain practical experience, learn from experienced people and build connections across the business as they take the first steps in their careers.
For Leo, that journey is already well underway.
