Safety, Quality, and Environment
At CPP we do safety differently, aligned with Quanta’s Capacity Model™.
We know that even with the best preventions in place, things can still go wrong: people make mistakes and the world is unpredictable. We plan and execute our work assuming that failure will happen today, which allows us the opportunity for it to fail safely.
The Capacity Model™ is a philosophy that helps us build the capacity to absorb failure without suffering life threatening, life altering, or life ending injuries, which we refer to as STKY (Stuff That Kills You). We learn from every job, every mistake, and every success to continually improve. Safety is not the absence of injuries; it is the presence of capacity.
We are always evolving our systems and processes to create value and efficiencies, and our learning programs support these developments.
Stuff That Kills You (STKY)
STKY (pronounced “sticky”) stands for stuff that kills you (you may hear it referred to as “s**t that kills you”). STKY includes a source of energy that, when released and not controlled, can be:
Life-threatening • Life-altering • Life-ending
It’s important for CPP to focus on STKY hazards that could occur on job sites. Significant events are a result of a release or transfer of energy that can’t be absorbed safely. When exposure to hazardous energy is present, we must have the capacity to fail safely.
The Capacity Model™ empowers us to understand how work is completed by engaging with the workers who do the work. This learning approach helps to build capacity in our systems.
CPP’s Capacity model philosophy creates a culture in which all workers have the opportunity and responsibility to take ownership for their safety, and the safety of their coworkers.
We apply the same understanding of how people work and apply that to protecting the environment. It is about understanding the need for the capacity to fail safely while we safely and efficiently execute our projects. We use our business processes to identify and manage risks to the environment and reduce potential environmental impacts throughout the life of our projects.
CPP is accredited under the Federal Safety Commission (FSC) and is certified with Safety (ISO45001), Quality (ISO9001), and Environmental (ISO14001) Management Systems.
The three pillars of The Capacity Model™
All three pillars must work together to protect the safety of our workers. We don’t get better by doing things the same way. From the ground up, The Capacity Model™ is designed to engage with and evolve, because of our workers.
We’re a family and we want you to go home to yours
