Every Purchase with Purpose: How CPP and Wuu-rri Are Creating Community Impact Through Everyday Actions
At Consolidated Power Projects (CPP), social value is about more than delivering critical infrastructure. It’s about creating meaningful outcomes for communities and supporting initiatives that leave a positive legacy beyond our projects.
That’s why we’re proud to partner with Wuu-rri, an Indigenous-owned social enterprise that transforms everyday purchases into opportunities for community growth and impact. Since partnering with Wuu-rri in late 2023, CPP has progressively introduced Wuu-rri vending machines across its operations, with machines currently operating across two sites and additional installations planned.
While the vending machines provide a convenient way for our people to access refreshments, their impact extends far beyond the workplace
Turning everyday transactions into meaningful outcomes
Every drink or snack purchased from a Wuu-rri vending machine contributes to funding social enterprise initiatives that support Indigenous businesses, community programs and future opportunities.
Through partnerships with organisations including Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, Wuu-rri manages the installation, servicing and restocking of the machines at no cost to host organisations. Revenue generated through the program is then reinvested into community-focused initiatives.
It’s a simple idea with a powerful outcome: everyday purchases helping create lasting change.
Supporting Indigenous business growth
One of the key programs supported through Wuu-rri is its micro-grants initiative, which provides funding to Indigenous entrepreneurs and small businesses looking to take the next step in their growth journey. The grants have helped recipients invest in business capability, build their digital presence and strengthen their foundations for long-term success.
Recently, funding was awarded to an Indigenous woman-owned business to support capacity building and website development, helping position the business for future growth. Programs like these help create economic opportunities while supporting self-determination and entrepreneurship within Indigenous communities.
Investing in community wellbeing
Beyond business support, Wuu-rri funds a range of community initiatives focused on wellbeing, resilience and opportunity. These include First Nations mental health and support programs, including initiatives working with Indigenous young people in Western Sydney. The programs are designed to help participants build confidence, develop positive pathways and recognise that their circumstances do not define their future.
For the Wuu-rri team, seeing the tangible outcomes of these programs is one of the most rewarding aspects of their work.
A partnership built on shared values
CPP’s partnership with Wuu-rri reflects our commitment to creating positive social outcomes through meaningful partnerships. As an organisation, we recognise that social licence is built through genuine action and long-term relationships. Supporting Indigenous-owned enterprises and programs that deliver measurable community benefits is one way we can contribute beyond our core business.
What makes the Wuu-rri model particularly powerful is its simplicity. Employees and visitors don’t need to change their behaviour or make an additional donation. Instead, a routine daily purchase contributes to programs delivering tangible benefits in communities across Australia.
More than a vending machine
Every organisation has opportunities to create positive impact through the choices it makes. Through our partnership with Wuu-rri, something as simple as purchasing a drink or snack helps support Indigenous businesses, community programs and future opportunities for generations to come.
That’s what social value in action looks like.
