The Ascendancy of CPP Careers in Renewable Energy

Consolidated Power Projects (CPP) has grown significantly since its founding in 1996, marked by milestones including Eastern Australia’s first grid-connected wind farm, and partnering with Tesla on the Hornsdale Battery.

With offices across multiple states and major contracts such as the Golden Plains Wind Farm and the Waratah Super Battery, CPP has greatly expanded its workforce to meet its growing project demands.

Jake Ellul, CPP’s Talent and Resourcing Manager, highlights that the surge in staff numbers mirrors the company’s expansion and success within the Australian renewable energy sector. “The company’s growth aligns with broader trends in the National Electricity Market, where renewables are witnessing significant adoption and the government’s push for clean energy technology has spurred investment in wind, solar, and battery storage projects.” This growth is attributed to the escalating demand for the design and construction of high-voltage renewable infrastructure.

“CPP has invested in its branding and reputation over the last few years, which significantly influences an organisation’s ability to attract and retain talent” Mr. Ellul said. As part of the process, a key initiative was the creation of the ‘CPP Careers’ website, designed to serve as a comprehensive hub for all things employment at CPP. The site is appealing to jobseekers, and most importantly, showcases the outstanding company culture.

Mr. Ellul emphasises that CPP has implemented additional measures to solidify its branding as a tier one industry provider. “We’ve enhanced our online presence by consistently sharing engaging content on CPP’s company LinkedIn page and across various social media platforms. Additionally, CPP has increased its involvement in industry-specific career expos, job fairs, and networking events”.

The implementation of flexible working arrangements at CPP has proven to be pivotal in both attracting and retaining top talent. By providing options like hybrid and remote working models, CPP caters to a diverse range of employee needs, while enhancing work-life balance. This level of adaptability not only fosters employee retention (98%), but also positions CPP as an appealing employer for candidates who prioritise flexibility or reside in a rural location.

Diversity is also given high regard. Mr. Ellul expressed pride in the company’s diverse and highly skilled workforce. “As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we are extremely proud of our diverse and highly skilled workforce who have achieved amazing results within our industry and in some of the most challenging and remote locations in Australia”.

As the company continues its expansion, preserving a unified and values-driven culture stands as a top priority for CPP. The organization approaches recruitment with great care, selecting individuals who share its values and contribute to the collective ethos. By placing emphasis on cultural alignment during the hiring process, CPP cultivates an environment where its values pass through every facet of operations, ensuring consistency and alignment.
