Completion of Project EnergyConnect
Marking a milestone achievement for Consolidated Power Projects
Consolidated Power Projects (CPP) celebrates the successful completion of Project EnergyConnect (PEC), a landmark energy infrastructure upgrade in South Australia. With a sense of pride and accomplishment, CPP reflects on the journey that has spanned several years, marking a significant milestone in the state’s transition towards a renewable energy future.
In October 2021, CPP was awarded the entire Sub Stations contract by ElectraNet, an honor that came with immense responsibility. Recognizing the pivotal role of PEC in advancing South Australia’s energy landscape, CPP approached the project with dedication and a positive outlook, assembling a robust team to tackle its complexities.
The scope of the project extended far beyond the headline items, encompassing major design and construction upgrades to existing substations, transmission line cut-ins, and various enhancements across remote locations statewide. Among the key achievements was the design and construction of a new 275/330kV substation at Bundey, marking a pivotal addition to the region’s energy infrastructure.
Over the span of two years, CPP successfully executed PEC, adhering to stringent safety protocols, meeting deadlines, and staying within budgetary constraints set by ElectraNet. The project’s environmental, community engagement, cultural heritage, and talent development aspects were managed with commendable diligence, reflecting CPP’s commitment to responsible project delivery.
The project’s success was made possible through the collective efforts of CPP’s specialized divisions, including Consolidated Power Industries (CPI), CPP Civil, Transmission Lines, and Asset Management Services teams. Together, they contributed over 75,000 design and engineering hours, more than 270,000 construction hours, and conducted over 42,000 commissioning hours, among other notable accomplishments.
While the numbers speak volumes, CPP takes pride in the collaborative spirit that defined the project’s execution. From experienced site teams to dedicated office support staff, valued subcontractor and supplier partners, and project counterparts such as Downer and Telstra, everyone involved demonstrated unwavering commitment and teamwork at every stage.
CPP extends its gratitude to ElectraNet for the opportunity to contribute to South Australia’s renewable energy future. As PEC concludes, CPP looks forward to continuing its mission of delivering innovative solutions that drive sustainable progress in the energy sector.
