The Templers Battery Project provides 111MW of battery storage, powering approximately 96,000 homes for over 2.5 hours. Located near Gawler on Ngadjuri lands, about 60 kilometres north of Adelaide, the project is expected to generate 181 jobs during construction and support up to 4 full-time positions for ongoing operation.
Construction started in 2024, with full operational status anticipated by 2026, utilising advanced liquid cooling battery technology from Sungrow in collaboration with Shanxi Electric Power Construction.
This initiative will bolster renewable energy generation, reduce carbon footprint, and enhance grid stability, positioning it as SA’s second-largest standalone battery energy storage facility and supporting the state’s goal of achieving 100% renewable energy.
